Overall view of route

We started by flying into Denpasar, Bali (from Los Angeles via Seoul and Jakarta) then headed west to the port of Medan in Sumatra. From there we took a ferry to Georgetown, Malaysia and got a bus to the southern tip of Thailand. In Thailand we went up to the northeastern point and got on a boat down the Mekong River in Laos. We only covered the northern part of Laos and took a very circuitous route to Hanoi, Vietnam. From Hanoi we went down to the delta and into Cambodia, through Cambodia back to Bangkok for the flight home.

Indonesia Map

In Indonesia we biked through Bali, took a ferry to Java, biked north, and took a ferry to the island of Medan. We biked through Medan and got another ferry to the port of Sinjarah where we took a train to Jogyakarta for some sight seeing. We got on a bus to Jakarta, saw Jakarta, and then got a bus all the way to Padang in Sumatra. We biked to Lake Toba, then got a bus to Madan, where we boarded a ferry bound for Georgetown, Malaysia.

Thailand Map

We got a bus from Georgetown to Ha Tia and then biked up to the ferry to get to Ko Samui. We the ferried to Ko Panyun and back to the mainland where we got on a train to Bangkok. From Bangkok we took a train north to ? and then biked from there to ? where we got on a bus to ?. After some sightseeing there we got on a bus to the Laos border.

In Laos we took a boat to the old capital of Luang Prabang and then biked over the mountains to Vientiane. From there we took the bus ride from hell to Hanoi via Hue (a little out of the way).

Vietnam Map

In Vietnam we went to see the amazing Hulong Bay and then took the train to Chau Doc where we rented motorcycles for 4 days of sight seeing. Then we got on the train back to Hanoi and down to ? where we biked for two days and then got a bus to Dalat. From Dalat we took another bus to Saigon and did a 5 day ride through the delta to the Cambodia border.

At the border we got on a boat us the mekong river and then got a ride in a car to the Capital of Penom Phen. From there we took a weekend down to ? on motercycles and we also took a boat a taxi up to Krache. When we left Penom Phen we went up the Tonel Sap River to Siem Reap where we saw the incredible Angor Wat temple ruins. From there we got a car ride to the Thai border. In Thailand we got a train ride to Bangkok and flew back to Los Angeles from there.
