Christmas Tree 2001

Tree on the ground

Well, we have a tree and it looks very nice in our living room. Buying a tree is another sign for me that I am a grownup and live in my own home.

However, the tree did not come without its problems. At the lot, we took a while to decide on a tree. I was happy with a number of them, but Deb had to have the best, so we looked them all over and finally picked one. Then we went to get the guy to and show him which one we wanted, but when we went back we couldn't find our tree. They all looked the same to me, and so we spent another couple of minutes looking at them.

We finally got it home and knocked all the dead needles that we could out of it in the auto lot across the street. Then we dragged it upstairs, got it in the stand, strung it with lights, and put all our ornaments on it. That was it, we had a tree… then two hours latter with Deb and I on the other side of the room the tree decided it didn't like all this crap on it and it took a dive (I think it was all the yarn ornaments that pushed it over the edge). So, we started over. I engineered a rigging system out of fishing line to make sure that it would stay upright and then we decorated it again and cleaned up the needles and water from the carpet.

It has now been 18 hours so I think it is going to stay. I sure hope so because I don't think I would decorate it a third time. I think the dumpster across the street would start calling.

That is the story of our first Christmas tree.
