Our bike trip started in Bali, Indonesia on August 07 and it started with a bang. We had to bribe the INS guy at the airport in order to let us into the country and then ended up paying about ten times what we should have for a taxi ride to our guesthouse (we had yet to learn how to barter!)

We spent a few days in Bali and then island-hopped over to Madura, Java, and Sumatra. Seeing how Islam, Hindu and Christian cultures exist alongside each other was fascinating to us as was experiencing the differences in terrain from island to island.
